Having now publicly confronted you with your indiscretions relating to Sonja Hunter, your very “close” CEO of Tourism, I now wish to address the matter of your banning me from Samoa.
While you may utilise the political technique of “plausible deniability” on all other matters I raise, this one despicable and cowardly act can only be attributable to you.
I write here to inform the world of the real reason and true circumstances over your banning of a blogger on your back. You will recall that for years it was me who attempted many times to address legitimate concerns. You will recall the time that I came to your office and sat down with you asking you directly, man-to-man, “Tui, do you want me gone? I’ll go if you want me to!” This is called respect Tui, and honour. Something that you failed to give me, but something that I have always given you, even though you used me.
So you buck passed, avoiding my direct question and making out that you had others who would be making that decision. We know now don’t we, that this was all BS? You signed off on my eviction notice and you did it secretly, against the law behind my back and concealed this from others, even to this day. You are the one who instructed the Samoan Immigration to lie and deceive my wife and I, to trick us to get me out of the country.
Oh, it has all come out now that we have the evidence. Everyone knows that you are the Minister of Immigration and that it is you alone who banned me. I also have proof of service to you! Woah!
Oh, but you see, we all know that you not only knew all along, but that you were the King Kong who ordered it!
And why? Why would Samoa, the breeding ground of overstayers in my country of birth happen to choose one Palagi and make excuses to evict one law abiding Palagi visitor, in your country on an openly acknowledged valid visitor’s visa?
Tui, let’s be perfectly frank about this shall we, just for one moment? I know that this may be hard for you , a Samoan politician on the back foot to face reality from a Palagi but . . . it’s not the corruption that I revealed in the book Corruption in Samoa within the various government departments that fazed you in the slightest. It’s not even the ugly racism shown by your Ombudsman. It’s not the lies and greed and racism in the corrupt Samoa Land Corporation that worried you was it? I mean you protected that crooked General Manager who sold land to herself at below market value for more than two years all while the local rag bleated on and on about it. It wasn’t even the corruption in the Police was it? You know what happens down there in the Police and it’s easy for you to handle those allegations. You get them all the time, don’t you?
You really wanted me out for one reason and one reason alone . . . Sonja. You knew that I was going public with your ‘inappropriate’ relationship with a woman whom you had promoted, protected and put into a very senior role directly under you – if you know what I mean.
Yes! That you have a long-term ‘close’ relationship with Papalii Sonja Hunter, CEO of Tourism reappointed under your control for many terms, widely hated and feared by many a tourism operator as a nasty piece of work if she turned on you, constantly accused of many indiscretions that benefited her and her inaction & incompetence in the marketing of Samoa for a decade, but ‘your girl’.
That worried you, didn’t it Tui? I crossed the line didn’t I?
It’s all out now. The world knows who she is. I’ve named her. I’ve called it publicly, and I’ve paid the price. So be it!
You got rid of me and for nine months I have said nothing – till now. I held publication of the book Corruption in Samoa for exactly two years – to the day, but today, Tui, the 1st June 2017, 55 years after Samoa gained independence, the very day that the Head of State speaks of the importance of holding our/your head high as Samoans, the world can get to see the truth about you . . . leader of a proud people who, as an embarrassed Samoan commenter on my personal blog says even today “we, have a VAMPIRE as PM”, is a coward.
The bible shares of times in Israel’s past when political leaders abused their privilege. Some of them even had the opportunity given to them to repent as the Lord sent prophets directly to them. Most, like you, cursed them and cast them out. You sir, have done the same to me. You sir, like them will suffer the same fate – mark my words.
Tui, I don’t curse you in the name of the Lord. I simply speak the truth and hand you over to Him. I think that you should be afraid Tui, even more afraid than you were when you had me evicted.
I wrote the book Corruption in Samoa for you, Tui. You know this. I gave it to you and you alone, more than two years ago with a warning that I would publish. I couldn’t threaten you with anything because that would be coercion at best and perhaps even blackmail. Instead I waited two years, warning you many times that I would publish.
You replied to this warning with a cowardly act using your political power to destroy my marriage and new Samoan family, totally eradicate seven years of my personal investment into the people and culture of Samoa and including the total loss of everything I owned.
You did it Tui to protect your political reputation. You wanted me, a man simply dedicated to doing the right thing and fearless to speak the truth no matter the consequences, out of your country for good. Remember Tui, that it was you who did the wrong things, and it was you who ripped me off, not me!
May the world know for posterity how those like you that mock His name and think that they are above the law (both moral and legal) truly live their lives.
In the upcoming letters I will be sharing more with you and those who wander past these pages, what you really get up to on the fifth floor of Government house in Apia. Don’t worry, I will not share anything confidential that you have shared with me over the years, I will keep those sensitive things to ourselves, for that is what you asked of me and I agree. But I will share with the people what I think about you and the country you rule.
In my next letter I tell you and those interested what I know of your illegal banning and why I consider you nothing more than a common criminal and a hypocrite, at that. It’s not very pretty but politics is a bit like that isn’t it Tui? – especially in Samoa.
