Mr Palemia, at the end of our first face-to-face meeting, I asked you how you wanted me to address you.
You replied, “Just call me Tui!”
I do that.
Tui, the morning after you returned to Samoa following Cyclone Evan you visited me in Aleisa East, personally. I was repairing the Camp Samoa roof at the time and I came down to greet you, inquiring of the nature of your visit, after all with a country reeling with damage from the storm, your visit was a little surprising. Your reply showed me your genuine concern. You replied, “I was worried about you!”
This engagement is just one of many from that era that indicates to the world a high level of goodwill from you towards the new [Palagi] kid on the block, me.
In 2016 though, you determined that I was persona non-grata in Samoa, technically a “Prohibited Immigrant” and you engineered events to have me removed from your country, permanently. In the face of your being Patron of the SWAP Foundation, your active support of our endeavours for several years and even in the face of a myriad of complaints from petty, small-minded people of all kinds (which to your credit you recognised for what it was – BS – and fended off gracefully), this about-face is intriguing.
There are people Tui, that want to know what happened that destroyed this goodwill. I wish them to know that the real reason for your turning on us, and in particular on me, was my impending revelations of your inappropriate relationship with Papalii Sonja Hunter in the book that I wrote and gave to you to read, called Corruption in Samoa.
I have quoted your obnoxious and condescending response to my book in the latest version of the book for all to see how the Samoan Prime Minister treats guests in his country when they stumble upon the truth and share it with the world. In fact Tui, you totally over reacted as the book Corruption in Samoa is actually quite anemic compared to what your people think and say about you and your corrupt way of living but it drew you out, didn’t it? We now know and have the evidence of how you operate behind the veil of plausible deniability, pulling the strings but having others do the dirty work for you.
Personally I think you have made a horrendous mistake banning a blogger who was onto you, but you are a “big man” and you knew exactly what you were doing, so, now here, you have my letters sharing with the world what a Palagi blogger would say to you if you dared to show your face in my country and look me in the eye – something that you can now never do for fear of bringing Samoa into further disrepute . . .
Tui, over the coming years, I will show the people here online at Palemia.com who you really are. No politics. No bribery. No corruption. No power games. No money. No backhanders. No conditionalities. No secret deals or secret bank accounts. No sweeteners. No fear and no BS.
Just you . . . and me . . . and reality on the Internet: www.Palemia.com.
The people are interested. We have a lot to talk about, but we have a lot of time. Let us begin . . .
